Many of our clients and customers have lots of questions about stamped concrete. The questions below are general information about stamped concrete, if you have further questions please call or send us an email.

What is stamped concrete?

Stamped concrete is a process of color and texture added to normal concrete. The result is a beautiful personalized designed patterned to resemble brick, slate, flagstone, stone, tile and even wood!!

Can Stamped Concrete be found in commercial environments?

Today’s stamped concrete can be found throughout the world at many distinguished hotels and resorts. For example, many casino resorts in Las Vegas have stamped concrete up and down the strip.

What makes Stamped Concrete better than other products such as wood decks, interlocking pavers, and other options?

Wood decks are very high maintenance which becomes very costly over the years. Interlocking pavers settle overtime and allow weed growth between each individual paver. The result is a wavy, up and down appearance with weeds growing in between.

How much does Stamped Concrete cost?

Stamp concrete is very affordable. It is remarkably less than interlocking pavers and wooden decks. Stamped concrete also does not include expensive yearly maintenance. Final estimate prices vary depending on the job site and the nature of the work being completed.

How is Stamped Concrete colored?

Many stamped concrete companies use what is called a color hardener that is placed on top of the concrete once the concrete is finished. This only colors the first quarter inch of the concrete. At StraightEdge concrete we use color that is mixed into all the concrete being poured. The color itself is poured into the concrete truck and mixed in its barrel. This ensures that ALL the concrete is colored not a slim coating on top.

How well does Stamped concrete fare in the winter?

The cold weather and snow do not pose a problem with Stamped Concrete.

Does Stamped Concrete become slippery when wet?

At StraightEdge concrete we seal the concrete with seal that includes an anti-slip additive to avoid this.

Is there any chance that it might crack?

The nature of any type of concrete is that it MAY crack. StraightEdge Concrete makes a huge effort to prevent cracks. We use 4000psi concrete for all jobs. We also use Fibermesh reinforcement in all of the concrete that we pour. Fibermesh provides crack prevention that is equal to using steel rebar in the concrete. These measures that we take with each job dramatically decrease the chance of a crack occurring.

What kind of maintenance is necessary?

Overall there is absolutely no maintenance needed to maintain the integrity and strength of the concrete. However this will result in the natural aging of the color and concrete itself. To keep a brand new look all the time we recommend resealing the concrete once every 1-2 years. This will reinvigorate the colors to a level of beauty that makes it look like it did that first day it was installed.
